If you haven’t yet caught her act, this is your chance. I’m talking about mega-babe Carie MacAlpine, and her ultra-cool sidemen... Dripping sensuality MacAlpine’s smoky alto can wail and moan … with complete (and sassy) confidence.  This remarkable vocalist whips the word “sultry” into full-blown proportions… and her sidemen—these dudes have been there and done that—are spot on. Carie and the Soulshakers rearrange every molecule ... Prepare to surrender to the sexy musical spell of Carie and the SoulShakers.

"SoulShakers Throw A CD Release Party"
By Dan Fitch

In the morning, Carie Anne MacAlpine wears a white smock and cap as she manages a juice bar and bakery at a bustling local grocery store. At night she and her band nourish the soul and lift everybody in a room onto their feet.
Carie & the SoulShakers play their blues smooth, funky and jazzy. On Saturday at the Poet & Patriot in Santa Cruz, they will rock the house in celebration of their first CD release.
"The most notable thing I hear when people come to our shows is how surprised they are at how much they like it," said MacAlpine, who has performed all over the county. "They sing, they dance, they laugh , they cry and they have a really good time."
The four-song recording features MacAlpine's deep, silky, and strong voice fronting a quartet. The rhythm section of bassist Steven Glaze and drummer David Ellison lock grooves that are futile to try and resist. The final cut. "Hey Hey Baby" adds the trombone of Ric 'Mightybone' Feliciano. It is soul-blues of the highest order.
